ProfileID MCP connector

Requirements

• A free GenuineIN account with a career profile. Create one at genuinein.com.
• An MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth, such as Claude, Claude Code, or ChatGPT.

Setup

Claude (web and desktop)

1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector, or add ProfileID from the Connectors Directory.
2. Enter the name ProfileID and the server URL https://www.genuinein.com/api/v1/mcp/stream. Leave the OAuth client fields empty.
3. Select Connect, sign in to GenuineIN, review the permissions, and select Approve.
4. In a chat, enable ProfileID from the tools menu and ask about your profile.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http profileid https://www.genuinein.com/api/v1/mcp/stream

Then run /mcp, choose profileid, select Authenticate, and approve access in the browser.

ChatGPT

Add ProfileID from the ChatGPT apps directory, or in developer mode create a connector with the server URL above and OAuth authentication. Approve access when prompted.

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers with OAuth can connect using the server URL. For example, in VS Code:

Permissions

The consent screen shows the client's name and the access it requests. ProfileID uses two read-only scopes:

Scope	Grants
profile:read	Basic profile information: name, title, photo, and summary.
full:read	All profile sections, such as education, experience, skills, certifications, projects, and achievements.

Contact details (email address, phone number, and postal address) are never returned to AI assistants. Access is limited to your own profile, and to other profiles only where their owner has shared them with you.

Tools

All 39 tools are read-only. Each takes one optional argument, gpin, a 10-character GenuineIN profile ID. Omit it to read your own profile.

Data handling

• ProfileID reads profile data only when the assistant calls a tool. It does not write, delete, or change any data.
• Responses exclude contact details and internal identifiers.
• Access tokens expire after one hour and refresh tokens after 30 days. GenuineIN stores only token hashes, the granted scopes, and an audit record of each connection.
• GenuineIN does not receive or store your conversations with the assistant.

Disconnect and revoke access

• In your assistant, disconnect or remove the ProfileID connector.
• In GenuineIN, revoke the connection from Settings → Career Data API. Revoked tokens stop working immediately.

Troubleshooting

Message	What to do
"This connection does not include the '…' section."	Disconnect ProfileID, reconnect, and approve access to all profile sections.
"Profile not found."	The GPIN is incorrect or the profile is not shared with you. Omit gpin to read your own profile.
"Profile data temporarily unavailable."	Your profile is being prepared. Try again in a few seconds.
Sign-in loop or authorization error	Remove the connector, add it again, and complete sign-in in the same browser.
